We are all living in a new and strange world, thanks to COVID -19! I hope you are all keeping safe and well. We are adding some new features to our website so that we can post videos and share some activities and resources with you while we are all staying home!

The Friends in Action Center is closed until further notice, but we are still providing volunteer services. We are working remotely until we can all safely be together again. To contact us, if you need a food or pharmacy delivery, please call our office 207-664-6016 or email us at [email protected].

Want to volunteer? We are excited to offer a great opportunity to do something positive in this challenging time. Our volunteer registration form is on our website if you would like to help with deliveries or transportation. You can also volunteer without leaving home. Our program “Phone Friends” is now partnering with the Ellsworth Public Library. Visit their FaceBook page for the volunteer form. If you would like a regular phone call or would like to phone others, please call us at 207-664-6016.

Volunteers are also delivering food boxes from food pantries, pharmacy orders and are doing grocery shopping (you will need to provide money and a list). Volunteers need to register with us and wear gloves and masks (we can provide these for the time being).

Our transportation program is still available on a more limited basis and depends on volunteer availability.  Again, we ask volunteers to wear a mask and gloves for the safety of our passengers and their own health. We will screen our passengers before any ride and only provide non-emergency medical and other essential rides. When we return to “normal”, we will again offer a much broader array of transportation services!

I know that we are all looking forward to the day we can say “it is over”! But there are many positives that are coming out of this time. The way we are all looking out for one another in this region is very encouraging. The new and creative ways we are connecting with video meetings and conference calls is fun. And the many community volunteers stepping forward is uplifting.

Let us know how we can help!
